Who would pay $ for one battery; when you could purchase 2 batteries, a charger and the drill itself for $$???.
Why on earth do manufacturers price disposable items such as this so high?
I for one will purchase a new drill———-but it will not be a DeWalt!
Perhaps the same problem will occur with another brand, but I will feel better at the start giving Bosch or Porter Cable my commerce.
Set your drill on the #1 for torque,and set your mode to the highest setting before drill mode,now try and hold it to stop the drill, do the same with the standard battery, No DOUBT the XR is more powerful and the 9.6 DeWalt drill are almost indestructible, drop a Hitachi from a ladder and it breaks in half,drop the DeWalt and pick it up and continue working,why-because the DeWalt has a heavy metal frame under the plastic. These drill will bury a screw or bolt into wood and take a beating like no other, also if you plan to use battery tools have several back up batteries, and just rotate to charger and tool.I have many battery power tools and love them !!

The replacement battery works well with my ten-year old Dewalt drill. My observation after a couple of short uses is that the capacity is no more or probably less than the original battery that came with the drill! I don’t know if the XR label has much significance.
I bought a couple of these as replacements to the original 9.6V battery packs that came with my DeWalt cordless drill. I was never unhappy with the amount of run time I got out of the original batteries, but these XR versions last a lot longer! Give your old cordless new life.
The battery worked well when i first got it but after a year it was pooped out and would not take much of a charge. This was my second replacement so i got a Bosch to replace the dewalt. Dewalt had two batteries that came with it one of them was no good.
