I looked into buying Lithium-ion replacement batteries several years ago, but they were so expensive that I got an entire set of Makita lithium-ion tools and 3 batteries for less than a hundred more than the Milwaukee batteries and charger would have cost, so when I saw these, I jumped on them. I like my Makita, but I like my old tried and true Milwaukee as well, and am very glad to have it back in service again.

Well I have had my set of 18v tools from milwaukee for over 8 years. The original nicad batteries stink, and everyone, including milwaukee knows it. I am a veteran, disabled, and now living in the philippines. I sent the old batteries home with a friend of mine, because their customer service led me to believe that mine were on a recall list (by the way, this was the 3rd set I had bought from them) I just found out that they are not on the list, so I have no real chance of getting new batteries, that will not break my limited, fixed income budget. I can’t do much anymore anyway, but it would have been nice to have those tools around, and functioning, when small projects did come up. But with these new, more powerful, and better quality batteries only going up in price, I just can not afford to buy them, and have them shipped half way around the world. I will be better off just throwing the entire, fully functional kit into a dumpster, and buying locally here in the philippines.

I know it is not their job to take care of every last customer, but they knew all along that the old style batteries were junk, and they never supported them. You can find many reviews that attest to this fact, and now that they have something that can bring your old tools back to life, they are going to make sure you have to pay for them, through the nose. Maybe they are just trying to price them so high, that you will just buy whole new tool sets from them? Well they got one thing right, I will just buy a whole new tool set, but it will most certainly not be with them, I will choose another company to give my pain money too, can you say dewalt?

Thinking about the Panasonic? Maybe a Makita? Naaaa … this is the one Goomba’s … beautifully engineered, feels good in your hand kinda tool … Highly Recommended!

Having a slew of Milwaukee tools with the Ni-Cad batteries and being constantly frustrated with run times and short battery life, I tried the V18 batteries. What a difference! Much improved run times, quick charging and no decrease in capacity over the time I’ve had them. Highly recommended for anyone with Milwaukee 18V cordless tools.

Just received these today so actual test for usage will come later. However a couple things are obvious;

1. You cannot use ANY of your standard 18v chargers, in case you wondered.

2. These will only go on the Ni-Cad tools in 1 direction, will not reverse. So you lose that ability.

3. The charge indicator, works while charging, does not work on my standard 18 v NiCad tools, however the battery seems to work fine.

I will let you know after a little usage how these hold up in a work environment. Also, FYI the 1st time you try to mount battery to charger may take a little work as the seem to fit extremely tight. First coupla times they did not seat properly and I got flashing lights, but after 2-3 tries it finally seated and all seems fine.
